Canon has unveiled the VB-300 PTZ network camera at the International Security Convention in Las Vegas. The camera features a 70 degree horizontal angle, 2.4X optical zoom and a super sensitive CCD that produces high performance even under low lighting conditions. It also provides over 360 degrees of viewing coverage. The VB-300 PTZ connects has a built-in mechanical IR cut filter that allows for the automatic Day/Night function to capture images even on low light conditions. Pricing and availability are still in a mystery.
Ricoh will launch its new digicam very soon. Dubbed as the Caplio GX100, the camera provides high picture quality because it features the high-speed F2.5 aperture and high-performance 24 to 72 mm wide zoom lens (35mm film equivalent). The gadget also features a 10.01 megapixel CCD, “Smooth Imaging Engine II”, and a 2.5 LCD with a 170-degree viewing angle. The attachable electronic viewfinder is very useful on a sunny day and provides 100% image coverage with synchronized focal length and no parallax error. The Caplio GX100 sports SDHC cards and uses AAA batteries when you run out of charge.
DPreview reviewed the Samsung L74 digital camera that boasts a 7.0MP CCD sensor, 3.6x optical zoom, 28mm wide-angle lens, 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD, 450MB of built-in memory, and an integrated tour guide. The tour guide function gives you travel information covering 4,500 regions in 30 countries, so you can plan trips while you’re on the road.
The Leica C-Lux 2 camera is an updated version of the C-Lux 1. It is a 7.2MP digicam which features a 2.5-inch screen, an ultra-short shutter delay, VARIO-ELMARIT lenses and the 3.6x zoom. Priced at about $500, the camera is compact enough to fit in your bag. The Leica C-Lux 2 will start shipping in May 2007.
Casio has rolled out the Casio Exilim EX-Z11 exclusively for MediaMarkt division in Germany. The digital camera features 7.2MP images with 3x optical zoom, a 2.6 inch LCD display, and the Anti Shake DSP, Auto Macro, and Quick Shutter functions to reduce the chances of snapping a blurred image due to moving subjects or shaky hands. Its lithium ion battery also offers a superior battery life. The Exilim EX-Z11 is now available for purchase. However, the price tag is still unknown.
