Canon has officially announced that they will release the EOS Kiss X3 first in Japan next month, followed by the US, Europe and Asia. It is actually an Asian version of the Canon EOS 500D. This budget/entry-level HD-video capable camera features a 15.1 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor that is ideal for large detailed prints. The camera also offers a high ISO sensitivity up to 3200 which is expandable to 12800. The Canon EOS Kiss X3 is priced at around $800 in Japan. [Akihabara]
After we posted the Canon EOS 500D rumor last week, many were curious what the camera looks like. So today as promised, here’s the new Canon EOS 500D also dubbed as the Rebel T1i.
‘We are witnessing the emergence of a new phase in digital imaging history, as high-resolution still images and HD video can now both be produced in a hand-held device, for under $1,000. This is truly a great time to be involved in digital imaging as the advent of online communities are helping usher in this next great era in imaging,’ stated Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A.

According to rumors, Canon will release a brand new DSLR from the Rebel range known as the EOS 500D. The Canon EOS 500D will come with a 15MP sensor, a DIGIC IV imaging processor, up to 12,800 ISO levels, and an articulating LCD display with 900k resolution as well as a 1080p movie mode which will be an extension of the 5D Mark II and similar to the one found in the Panasonic Lumix DMC GH1. Canon Japan today announced that the company will refund up to 20,000 Yen or around €160 on any purchase of a Canon 50D or Kiss X2 until June 30th, 2009. You will be entitled to a 20,000 Yen refund for a Canon 50D with EF-D18-200-IS lenses and 10,000 Yen for Canon Kiss X2 with a kit lens or not. [Akihabara]

This new camera sports a 12.1-megapixel, 3x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch PureColor LCD II, image stabilizer, motion detection, face detection and the new blink detection.
