Canon EOS 450D / Digital Rebel XSi is a perfect entry level DSLR. Its sport mode captures fast moving objects flawlessly at 12.2 Megapixels. It does however; require you to understand certain input parameters in order to generate optimal result. If you are up for the challenge, the camera will take you far. While it is definitely not cheap, you will expect to get more bangs for your buck. Selling at around $800. [DigitalCameraTracker]

Nikon Coolpix P5000 Digital Camera

Nikon Coolpix P5000 Digial Camera

The Nikon Coolpix P5000 is a 10MP camera which provides a high sensitivity of USI 3200, vibration reduction that lets you snap images even in low light conditions, and face recognition for sharper portrait shots. LetsGoDigital has reviewed this camera. Here is the verdict.

The power of the Nikon Coolpix P5000 is found in the camera itself. The camera will feel comfortable for most photographers, and that makes it worth it. You have to settle for a few shortcomings, but if you can live with that, you truly have a great camera. The Nikon Coolpix P5000 is in my opinion one of the nicest compact cameras available right now, it is really well built.

Review of Canon Digital IXUS 65

Review of Canon Digital IXUS 65

TrustedReviews has a comprehensive review of Canon’s IXUS 65 (a.k.a. PowerShot SD630). Tiny enough to slip in your pocket, the camera provides a 6.0MP CCD with 3x optical zoom, a large 3.0-inch LCD display, and an SD card slot. Here is the verdict.

The Canon IXUS 65 is a potentially lovely little camera which could have been one of the best pocket compacts on the market, with great build quality, stunning performance, attractive but functional styling and good value for money, but sadly it is let down by a number of major image quality issues, especially high-ISO image noise.

Olympus Stylus 1000 - 10MP Compact Camera

Olympus mju 1000 - 10MP Compact Camera

Priced at US$400, the Olympus Stylus 1000, which is also called mju 1000, features a 10MP CCD, F2.8-4.7, 3X optical zoom lens, 28.5MB built-in memory, xD picture card slot, 640 x 480 (30 fps) video recording capabilities, digital image stabilization, and a sharp 2.5-inch LCD display. TrustedReviews reviewed this camera. Here is the bottom line.

The Olympus mju 1000 is a camera with some very good points offset by some rather bad ones. It is about average for 10MP compacts in terms of picture quality, with good colour and exposure but poor noise control and some optical problems. Build quality, weatherproof durability, performance and ease of use are all good, but let down by poor low light focusing. The 6400 ISO setting is pretty much useless, but the Perfect Fix feature is very handy. It’s worth looking at if you need splash resistance, but there are better high-end compacts on the market.
