Pentax comes back with its latest compact digital camera. Known as the Pentax Optio RZ18, the camera features a 16-megapixel sensor, a 18X optical zoom lens (equivalent to 25-450mm), a 3-inch LCD with HVGA resolution, a 9-point autofocus with a 4cm super macro mode and widescreen 720p video capture at 30fps. What makes the Pentax Optio RZ18 special is that it has the latest version of the Pet mode that can recognize dog or cat’s face. Available in black, pearl white, or metallic orange, the Pentax Optio RZ18 will be released in October 2011 for $299.95 a pop. [Ubergizmo]
Pentax today introduced the new “Shiny-Orange” version of the Optio WG-1 GPS camera. This rugged camera features a 5x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD display, Eye-Fi support and 720p video recording capabilities. The Optio WG-1 also has an optional GPS module. No word on pricing so far. [Akihabara]
Pentax has showed off the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens camera called the Pentax Q. Measuring only 98mm x 58mm x 30mm and weighing about 200g, the Pentax Q sports a high-resolution 12.4-megapixel, 1/2.3-inch CMOS image sensor, a 3.0-inch color LCD monitor, an SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot, 5 frames per second continuous shooting mode, ISO 125-6400, a micro-HDMI port and 1080p Full HD recording capabilities (30fps). Pentax has introduced five interchangeable lenses, which are designed for the new Pentax Q compact digicam. Each lens features an optimized image circle to match the size of the Q’s CMOS image sensor. The five lenses are the “Pentax-01 Standard Prime” unifocal standard lens (47mm), the “Pentax-02 Standard Zoom” standard zoom lens (27.5-83mm), the “Pentax-03 Fish Eye” unifocal ultra-wide-angle lens (160 degree view), the “Pentax-04 Toy Lens Wide” unifocal wide-angle lens and the “Pentax-05 Toy Lens Telephoto” unifocal telephoto lens. Tower Records Japan and Pentax have collaborated to release the special edition Pentax K-r Digital SLR camera. Dubbed as the “Rainbow Edition”, the collaborative model is quipped with a 12.9-megapixels CMOS sensor, a 3-inch TFT LCD with 921,000 dots, and the ability to record 1280×720 HD video.
