
Ricoh is about to drop another rugged digital camera into the market. Called the Ricoh PX, this dust-, shock- and waterproof camera sports a 16.4-megapixel CCD image sensor, a 28mm wide angle lens, a 5x optical zoom lens, a 2.7-inch LCD screen, an SD/SDHC card slot (up to 32GB), a USB 2.0 port, a micro-HDMI port and 720p HD video recording capabilities. The Ricoh GXR Lens Mount Unit is compatible with Leica and other third-party lenses. Ricoh Company is ready to release its newly developed CX5 digital camera model with its wide-angle, high magnification 10.7× optical zoom (28–300 mm) lens, which has a higher autofocus speed due to the use of Ricoh’s new hybrid AF system. AF focusing times are also decreased to as low as 0.2 sec. for both wide-angle 28mm and telephoto 300mm thanks to Ricoh’s unique new hybrid AF system. Ricoh has posted firmware update version 1.05 for its CX4 camera. The latest firmware enables the camera to shake warning symbol when pressing the shutter release button half way in the Night Landscape Multi-shot mode. Ricoh has issued a new firmware update for the GR Digital III camera. This firmware update version 3.00 adds a high-contrast black-and-white mode, a cross-process filter, a 4:1 magnification when using manual focus, a “My Setting delete” function and a “key custom setting initialization” feature. Ricoh has introduced an updated version of its G700 rugged digital camera called the G700SE. Unlike its predecessor, this new version of G700 comes with wireless LAN support, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a connection for external GPS and laser barcode reader accessories.
