Sony A55/ A33 Sensor Overheats In Video Mode

by Johan on October 2, 2010

Sony Japan has recently announced that the new A55 and A33 cameras suffer from reduced recording times when using the video mode due to the camera’s sensor overheating. The Sony A55 can only record up to 9 minutes of video at 20 degrees Celsius and 6 minutes at 30 degrees Celsius, while the Sony A33 can record up to 11 minutes and 7 minutes, respectively. You should turn off the Image Stabilization (IS) system to improve those times and use faster shutter speeds to maximize the length of a continuous video clip. [Sony]
