Fantasea has recently released the FS-51 underwater housing which is compatible with the new Nikon Coolpix S52 and S52c digital cameras. This water proof case is depth rated up to 60 meters/200 feet under water and has a double O-ring seal on all controls, anti-glare hood over LCD screen, built-in flash diffuser and a 41mm lens port. Ricoh will dropping another camera called the G600. This 10-megapixel cam features a 2.7-inch LCD, 28-140mm wide-zoom lens, 5x optical zoom, USB connectivity, ISO 3200 capability and a shock-resistant feature that also repels dust and water. You even get an accessory shoe for an external flash. Unfortunately all these features add up to about £349.99 ($693) and will be available in May. [Engadget]
The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50 comes equipped with WiFi connectivity that allows users to transfer and upload images from any WiFi hotspot. Priced at around $500, the digital camera will be released in Japan in May 16th. (after conversion). [Panasonic Japan] More
Picto has made a 7 megapixel camera called the Picto DigiArt i90 that also plays Mp3’s. It comes with a 3x optical zoom lens, 3.0-inch LCD, face recognition, unspecified anti-shake technology, voice recorder, 740 x 480 / 30fps MPEG-4 video recorder, and the ability to playback MP3s and video of unspecified formats. The i90 hits Korea this month for ₩179,000 or $185. [AVING]
Sony Japan made it official for the Japanese local market that they will be selling the Cybershot DSC-T300. It features a 10.1Mpix censor and a 3.5” wide screen, a 5x optical zoom, an image stabilizer, and boosts up to ISO3200. This digicam will be available in the U.S for $400. [Link]
Japanese company Olympus will release a camera that can resist just about anything. The U1030SW features a 10Mpix CCD and can be dropped from a height of 2m max, support a pressure of 100kg on its body, and can be dropped into 10m max of water without suffering from damage. If that’s not impressive, then I don’t know what is. No word on pricing or availability for this rough and tough camera.
