Sony has recently introduced two alpha DSLR cameras with a new generation of Exmor CMOS sensors and BIONZ image processors, which make it easy for user to get the best shot and capture clearer images. The A550 (14.2MP) and A500 (12.3MP) digital SLR cameras are equipped with two Live View functions and a 3-inch LCD screen that tilts 90 degrees up or down. The A500 has a 230,000 pixel Clear Photo display, while the A550 comes with a 921,000 pixel Xtra Fine display. The A550 and A500 will retail for $950 and $750, respectively. [dcviews]

Leica has unveiled the specifications including release date of their upcoming DSLR system ‘S2′ which is targeted towards professional users. This medium-format camera features a 37.5 megapixel CCD sensor (45 x 30mm), a 3-inch TFT display and a weatherproof body. It also sports several advanced features including dual shutter system, high-speed autofocus, ISO up to 1250, three metering modes, four exposure modes, an integral metal shutter provides 32 to 1/4000 sec and a flash sync of 1/125 sec. Canon has released a firmware update version 1.0.7 for its EOS 50D digital SLR. This new update “corrects the magenta cast that can appear on images in specific shooting modes. Nikon has announced a new addition to its DSLR family with the introduction of D3000. Some of the cool features this new entry-level DSLR offers include a 10.2-megapixel DX sensor, a 3-inch LCD, 11-point auto-focus, continuous shooting at 3fps with full resolution and an automatic dust-reduction system. The D3000 will ship with an image-stabilized AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens for $600 in the late August. More
