Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G Lens

Nikon Imaging Korea today launched its new wide aperture fixed-focal length NIKKOR lens which is dubbed as the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G. The lens is currently available in the South Korean market for around 600,000 Won. The lens also features Nikon’s ultra-compact Silent Wave Motor (SWM) ring-type and enables autofocus in cameras without a built-in motor such as the Nikon D40 and Nikon D60. The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G offers two focus modes including M/A (manual-priority autofocus) and M (manual focus). [AVING]

Nikon New D3x DSLR Officially Announced

Nikon today introduced the long awaited D3x DSLR camera. It is a 24.5MP(CMOS Sensor) DSLR that is able to take pictures in 6048 x 4032 resolution with the EXPEED™ Image Processing System that shoots about 5 frame per seconds, and 7 fps in DX crop mode. Priced at €6300, the camera also boasts an ISO sensitivity from 100 to 1600, expandable to 50 (Lo-1), and 6400 (Hi-2). Other features include a 3-Inch LCD screen, and HDMI output. What makes the Nikon D3x more special is that it is also compatible with Nikon’s GP-1 GPS receiver, and is able to capture up to 4400 shots per single charge of its lithium ion battery. [Nikon]

Olympus, Nikon And Canon Firmware Updates

Three huge digital camera manufacturers have announced the firmware update for their famous digital cameras. Canon has released the firmware update for the Canon WFT-E3/E3A wireless transmitter. Meanwhile, the firmware update for Nikon D80 and D200 corrects the problem of light flashing empty, which is also known as the ‘Dead Battery Syndrome’. And finally, firmware v1.1 for the Olympus E-520 corrects the brightness level of AF target points in the Viewfinder mode. [dpreview]

Nikon today announced world’s first D-SLR camera with movie function, the Nikon D90. The camera has a 12MP sensor that’s capable of shooting 1280×720p video at 24fps with a 16:9 aspect ratio for up to five minutes, producing around a 600MB file. The D90 features a new lens, too. The camera is said to come equipped with a 18-105mm f3.5-5.6G DX VR. There is no word on pricing or availability at this time. [Gizmodo]

Nikon is rolling several of its latest snappers to public this month. We have S610/S610c, S710, and S560, all from Coolpix family. These models share similar features, like the New EXPEED Image Processing, Optical VR Image Stabilization, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, and that they all record High Quality TV Movies with Sound. Each model however has its own capture resolution, maximum zoom, LCD size and body color availability.

The S610 has 10 Megapixel at maximum 4x Zoom accessible via 3″ LCD, available in Smoke Grey, Deep Red and Midnight Black. MSRP: $279.95.

The S610c is similar to S610 except for the inbuilt wireless technology to upload to Nikon’s my Picturetown service. S610c is only available in Midnight Black. MSRP: $329.95.

The S710 has 14.5 Megapixel at maximum 3.6x Zoom also with 3″ LCD, available in Graphite Black, Deep Red and Brilliant Silver. MSRP: $ 379.95.

Finally S560 has 10 Megapixel at maximum 5x Zoom via 2.7″ LCD, available in Cherry Blossom, Graphite Black and Cool Blue. MSRP: $249.95. [Pocket-Lint]
